COVID-19
To respect the health and safety of all our members and the general public, we are taking the advice of health professionals who say to practice social distancing, thus not meeting in large groups whenever possible. Therefore, we will be cancelling our open meeting on Tuesday 6/17.
We are discussing ways we can still have our Scavenger Hunt. Stay tuned for updates.
We hope there will not be more future cancellations required. We are hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. Please keep checking this page for updates.
But in the meantime, while we do advise avoiding large groups, we ALSO advise riding your bike! It’s a great way to beat the boredom and maintain your physical and psychological health in these strange and unsettling times.
And, just because we should avoid being in the same place at once, doesn’t mean our numbers or our mission have diminished…
The Pedestrian/Bike Master Plan is complete! Click the button below to view/download. Bear in mind that it has NOT been formally adopted yet. It has to make it through the Planning Commission, the Complete Streets Committee, then the Metro Council. We ask that you to contact your Metro Council Person and urge them to support the plan. And when you do, mention that it will require FUNDING.
The Vulnerable Road Users legislation needs support to become law. The good folks at the Motorcycle Riders Foundation have made an online form that will find your elected state representatives and contact them. Please take a moment to tell them you support a VRU law, so that drivers who injure or kill people on bikes (and pedestrians, mobility aid users, road workers and motorcyclists) are held accountable. Click the button below to access the form.
So… stay healthy, stay sane and stay riding. Riding a bike is a great way to get exercise and relieve stress. I think we could all use it right about now.
Thanks,
Doug Moore
